Stocks ended the week on a positive note, with
the Dow snapping a four-day losing streak, as investors were encouraged over the
"fiscal cliff" talks in Washington, but still closed sharply lower for the
week.
The Nasdaq logged its sixth consecutive week of
losses, its longest streak in over three years. And the Dow posted its fourth
straight losing week, the longest since last August.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 45.93
points, or 0.37 percent, to close at 12,588.31, snapping a four-day losing
streak.
The S&P 500 climbed 6.55 points, or 0.48
percent, to end at 1,359.88. The Nasdaq rose 16.19 points, or 0.57 percent, to
finish at 2,853.13.
The CBOE Volatility Index, widely considered
the best gauge of fear in the market, fell below 17.
For the week, the Dow dropped 1.77 percent, the
S&P 500 fell 1.45 percent, and the Nasdaq declined 1.78 percent.
All key S&P sectors finished in the red for
the week, led by industrials and materials.
