The third quarter could fade quietly away in the week ahead, as markets look forward to a more dramatic fourth quarter, with the election and pending "fiscal cliff" making it the trickiest period of the year. The approaching quarter-end Friday could bring some portfolio adjustment as investors look to lock in some gains in a year where the stock market’s 16-percent rise has surprised just about everyone. In the coming week, there are data on housing, the economy’s one brightening spot, and the consumer. There should also be more companies issuing per-announcements on earnings, as the global slowdown holds back revenue growth and bites into profits.
Stocks edged lower, with blue chips suffering their first weekly loss in three weeks after a late-afternoon selloff.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 17.46 points, or 0.1%, to 13579.47, giving up its daily and weekly gains as the index fell to session lows minutes before the closing bell.
The Standard & Poor's 500-stock index dipped 0.11 point, or less than 0.1%, to 1460.15. Materials and consumer-staples shares fell while the telecommunications and health-care sectors rose. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose four points, or 0.1%, to 3179.96.
For the week, the Dow gave up 0.1% while the S&P 500 fell 0.4%.
Support for the SPX remains at 1450 and then 1430 with resistance at 1476 and then 1500.So we should trade small lot.Take a look all 1/5/15/60m chart if we want to trade this market.
